Re: Gastroparesis and nausea
Hi there, sorry to hear D isn't feeling great - hope he's on the mend soon and I'm glad he made it to school. Will you be able to make it Thursday to the meeting? Can you talk D into coming along?

Re: Gastroparesis and nausea
Thanks for your reply! He finally did go, felt somewhat less nauseous, and went to school. I will try to get some ripe pears (his favorite fruit!) and definitely apple juice. You're right - I don't know if it's gastroparesis. In any case, I don't think he would have gotten these symptoms prior to CD onset. I'm just glad he's better, of course. BTW, I know everyone's different, but, has your son felt nauseous as well from constipation? Thanks again,
D's Mom

Re: Re: Gastroparesis and nausea
Yes but he tends to get the "hasn't gone in 10 days" type of constipation that requires hospitalization when his Crohn's is active. At this time he tends to have nausea in the mornings that may or may not be constipation-related. It seems that if he's going at least once a day he has less nausea but it's a hard thing to pin down. Patricia

Re: Re: Re: Gastroparesis and nausea
Patricia,Thanks for the info. I'm sorry that your son is having a problem with nausea. I didn't know that Crohn's causes such extreme constipation; but, then again, it's not suprising since it causes so many different types of symptoms. Hope your son is feeling better soon! D's Mom

Re: Gastroparesis and nausea
we have lots of experience with constipation but not gastroparesis. This was the advice given to us by the top ped gi doc at UCLA for managing constipation through diet long term:add 1- 8 oz daily serving of apple juice or pear nectar or apricot nectar add 1 serving of pear, prunes, cherries, or apricot avoid applesauce and bananas when constipated We have had good success using pears a lot. I have read that response to meds for gastroparesis sometimes falls off over time but I wouldn't leap to that conclusion from one day's worth of nausea. hope this info helps. Patricia
